Description:

Ten stunning flowers on five upright 16 cm long inflorescences on  a plant 17 cm wide by 20 cm tall grown in bark in an 11 cm, round plastic pot; leaves solitary, lanceolate, 14 cm long by 3 cm wide emerging from pedicel; dorsal sepaline tail reflexed golden yellow; lateral sepaline golden yellow; petals too small to measure; lip hinged rich dark cordovan; column yellow; substance very heavy; texture dorsal and terminal tails matte, lateral dark portion velvety; recognized for educational value and hybridizing potential.

Masdevallia dunstervillei Luer, Selbyana 7: 106 (1982).This name is accepted.
