Coelogyne suragenense, award number 20114458,
has been determined to be Coelogyne vanoverberghii by SITF (May
2014).
These are submissions sent to SITF by centers or exhibitors. They are labeled by the name they came with initially. When their identity is confirmed, the last line on the page will have those results. Sometimes on the page or in additional information areas we will post reference material pertinent to the submission. You may comment but ask that comments be about the identity of the plant or references.

There is no valid nomenclatural combination of "Coelogyne suragenense." The plant shown is likely an undescribed species from Mindanao (Philippines), that has been known for many years under other provisional and unpublished names. There are a number of color variants being cloned by division, which go under other unpublished Latinized binomials, including a pale variant marketed under the name "C. salverianum." A classic case of horticultural commercialism abusing scientific validity.
